Get the Look from Beyoncé's “Superpower”

Surprisingly enough, I actually had some requests for this look and I never expected it! You know how I am about my dark circles and heavy eyeliner... But ask and I shall deliver. Here's the SUPER BOLD eye and nude lip from Beyoncé "Superpower" (featuring Frank Ocean):

Now this is a look! The eyeshadow is SUPER SIMPLE and pretty similar to my I'm-Going-To-Be-Late-But-Can't-Look-it look. On my lips I'm wearing Sunny Lip Color in 24K Gold (Earth may be a better match), which I never thought I'd find online since I got mine at a local beauty supply for $1. I layered Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain in 01 Nude Chic over it to tone the gold down and add a little sparkle.

The eyeliner is obviously the focus of Beyoncé's “Superpower” makeup. Now, I know eyeliner can be a tricky thing but hopefully my animated illustration down there helps you get it. You just have to keep a steady hand and work slowly. Using a good brush, as well as a good eyeliner is key.

Step 1: Apply neutralizing eyeshadow primer onto entire eye space with finger.
Step 2: Apply nude (Brulee) onto entire eye space with a blending brush (optional).
Step 3: Apply mauve-brown (Tease) to crease and blend with a fluffy blending brush.

Step 7: Line lower lash line with black gel eyeliner starting at tear duct.
Step 8: Slowly carve bottom of white triangular space, connecting both wing tips.
Step 9: Bring gel eyeliner down towards your nose and create a sharp point.
Step 10: Line inner 3/4 of water line with waterproof black eyeliner.

The video has an apocalyptic, dystopian atmosphere I tried to emulate with my photo processing. Did you notice? Oh, and the scarf I'm wearing? It's panty hose! Ha! I also considered borrowing Andrew's balaclava. Let me know if you try Beyoncé's look from "Superpower" for yourself!

P.S. DID YOU SEE BEYONCÉ'S PERFORMANCE ON THE GRAMMYS LAST NIGHT??!! AHHH!!

    1. You can! You just have to practice it a bit. I actually tried doing this look with liquid liner in pen form at first and it went horribly wrong. Just go slow and clean up whatever mistakes you make with a q-tip. Give it try!

    1. Yes! I can already imagine the commentary Cory will provide—you should pair it with blue lips and matching shoes!

  4. YESSSSS! You've done it again....and I'm in love with your hair colour. Did you have to lighten it for the colour to come out like that?

    1. When I went to the salon I had my outgrowth from my orange hair, so it was already lightened and all ombré-y, though the chick didn't have to do anything else to it. The color has faded and my hair is darker now, but I posted about it if you wanna check it out! I'm going to touch it up with some box dye soon.

  6. I'm so intrigued by the eyeliner in this look! I really suck at winged eyeliner, but you do it really well and make me want to try it again. Love the photos, too! (And I LOLed at your pantyhose-as-scarf confession!) :)

    1. I know it sounds so ridiculous to just say "practice" but I promise you I've been doing for ages and practice is how I perfected it. Some days I totally end up with Amy Winehouse liner, but every day can't be perfect, right??

    1. Thank you! I didn't quite make my liner as thick or do as much smudging action but I liked it.
