Get the Look from Beyoncé's "Mine" ft Drake

Maybe—just maybe if you live under a rock, you don't know that Beyoncé released a surprise, self-titled, visual album at midnight on Friday the 13th. I was up, I freaked out, I downloaded it, I cried, and now here we are.

Her makeup in each video is absolute perfection thanks to makeup artist, Sir John B. I tweeted about my desire to recreate all of her looks and you guys encouraged me! So here's my take on the beautiful teal look from Beyoncé "Mine" (featuring Drake):

This look was so easy to achieve! I'm not usually one for blue eyeshadow (I'm always saying that) but I really love how this turned out. It can also be toned down if you use a lighter hand and/or omit the blue base. That's actually something I might try because I think I'm just at that too fair-skinned to pull it off mark. To off-set the intensity of the eyes, I used Revlon Shine Lipstick in Honey Bare, which is a touch too peach for me. One day I'll find a nude that works!

Beyoncé's eyebrows are always awesome and a bit tamed-but-untamed, if that makes sense. I tried to emulate this by using short, heavy-handed strokes of product then applying a super light coat of black mascara to my brow hair. e.l.f.'s 3-in-1 Mascara has the perfect wand for this.

I used inexpensive, easy to find drugstore products to help encourage you to try Beyoncé's look from "Mine" for yourself. If you don't already own Wet n Wild's Blue Had Me At Hello, I suggest you go pick it up ASAP. It's being discontinued and it's on clearance at CVS right now! The eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented, too. Did you notice I went wingless in an attempt at authenticity? Aren't you proud??

  2. I thought that she had a darker navy on her inner eyelid as well as in her crease. At first it looked like a shadow, but the more I see pics of it, there's definitely a navy color to make the bright metallic blue more intense in the middle of her eyelid. You did a great attempt at it. Love the fact that you even went so far as to have your shoulders bare for the pic! What we wont do for the sake of beauty. LOL.

    1. It was difficult to tell if she really did have dark shadow on her inner corner. I still don't actually know if she did... The cream shadow Sir John B. used may just have been suuuper metallic.

    1. Yes, try it! And when you do, let me know so I can see your beautiful work! Blue is one of those colors that I almost always think is no good for me, then I end up digging the outcome. Same deal with purple. Worst-case scenario, you don't like it but then all you have to do is wash it off! xoxo

  5. Wow, so beautiful! I think it's gorgeous on you, fair skin be damned! I also love your lip color, although I share your frustrations in finding the ideal nude shade. Right now I'm into Urban Decay Naked, but the search continues! ;)

    1. Thanks, Caroline! I'm still stuck in my blue doesn't suit me phase but I'm sure it'll pass soon, especially with all the blue looks I've been doing/have planned!

Who knew nude lip colors were so difficult?? I still have trouble understanding my skin's undertones so that's probably why I'm having such a hard time. I haven't tried any of the UD lipsticks yet but now I'm tempted!
