Problem?

I suppose if I actually did have a problem then I would have been able to spell it out though, right? My logic is totally sound, I'm sure you agree.

Every time I stop in Walgreens for something like q-tips or a KitKat (who am I kidding, it's almost always a KitKat) I end up buying nail polish. The other day I bought seven! Oops? This super ridiculous habit of mine also means that I'm constantly changing my nails. To try and get myself more excited about my crocodile stitch skirt, I painted them to match.

I usually love scalloped edge everything so I'm happy with how my nails turned out but not so much my skirt ;\ I don't know. I'm not sure how I feel about the colors or the pattern I've created but I've got a good chunk of it done and I have to finish! It's already up to 300+ grams too so it will be the heaviest skirt in all the world.

Don't you hate it when you get halfway done with a project and this kind of thing happens? Being wishy-washy is the worst but I'm sure I'll get over it.

  1. I'm loving the look of what you've got going on right now, both the nails (freakin azdorable!) and the skirt. I've been thinking about making a crochet skirt myself the last couple of months, but it's coming up on late spring/summer here in Kentucky and I wouldn't really be able to wear it until about November or December here because of heat and humidity and me being such a baby about having to sweat and be hot. I just need to move back north already I guess; home state of Michigan had snow up until this afternoon and we're having tornadoes here, go figure.

  3. Hey DK! I totally hear you about the weather. Thankfully Chicago stays pretty cool for a while longer, otherwise this skirt would have to sit and wait till the fall. Maybe you can work on a skirt using fingering weight or sport yarn and has a pretty open stitch?

Thanks :D I painted a base coat then used a sewing pin with a large head(?) to dot on a row of circles. When the 1st row dried, I applied the next row alternating the circles so they mimicked my skirt's pattern. Then I filled in the space between the last row of circles and

  4. Oh man, I have been renewing my love of nail polish lately. It's so fun and there so many colors I want right now. Annnd I think that I need to try the scalloping on my nails some time. Also, I love how the pattern is looking for the skirt!

  6. Oooo, do you have the pattern for that skirt?? Have you already posted it and I'm just too lazy to go searching for it? It's truly lovely!

  7. Nail polish is just TOO EASY to hoard!! Also, the last part of my comment got eaten up? It was supposed to say: "...and my cuticles. I applied a ton of top coat too which is why there's so much glare in the photo!"

@Kristy: Thank you! I've been crocheting the skirt as I go. I'm using the crocodile stitch in the round until I get it to a length I'm comfortable wearing :)

  8. OMFG. I am so glad to know it's not just me. I have developed a bad nail polish problem, too.

How long does your polish last? I can only get mine to MAYBE last 2 days, but I also work with my hands.

  9. Yeah, I don't know that I'd be a good person to compare against because "working with my hands" for me is my mouse and keyboard ;P I'd say about a week average but I apply a ton of top coat; usually I change my nails before anything's even wrong with them out of boredom/obsessiveness.

  10. I love what you have of the skirt so far! If you think it will be too heavy or cumbersome to wear you could always add it to the bottom of a knit plain skirt as a border. Either way I think it will be lovely

  11. Thanks for the suggestion Christine! I thought about adding it as a trim, but I think it would look SO WEIRD. I think I'll just continue working on it and deal with the bulkiness :)

  12. I absolutely LOVE the colors of that skirt! It seriously makes me want to make an afghan or something with the same design. And also, kudos on the nails. That is quite impressive.

  13. What ever happened with the skirt? Did it get finished? :)

  14. Ah, good question Crystal! I was actually just writing a post about my current state of crochet. It's still unfinished, and sadly, I don't know that I'll ever finish it...

  15. Did you finish the crocodile skirt? I was wondering because I'm thinking of tackling that project myself but would like to find a good tutorial on crocheting in the round with the crocodile stitch. Do you have any tips or tutorials you liked?
